📝 Animal Characteristics and Abilities
👋 摘要
The flowchart illustrates the unique characteristics and abilities of different animals such as cheetahs, kangaroos, fleas, and South American monkeys. It shows how they use their sharp claws, tails, and strong back legs to grip, balance, and jump. It also highlights how fast they can run and jump, and how they adapt to their environment.

Turn to page 22. How high can a kangaroo hop? Believe it or not, big kangaroos can hop right over your head. As far as we know, the highest a kangaroo has ever jumped is roughly 3 meters, more than twice as high as you are. Their big strong back legs help kangaroos to be such good high jumpers. How fast can a cheeto run? A hungry cheeto can sprint faster than 100 kilometers per hour when chasing something to eat. Running this fast soon wears it out and it has to stop to get its breath back. Which animal has an extra hat? Well some South American monkeys can grip tree branches with just their tails, leaving their hands free to pick fruit and nuts to eat. And like most monkeys, whose tails are completely covered with fur, they have bare skin at the end of their tails, rather like the palm of your hand. For their size, fleas are the world's best high jumpers. They can jump over 100 times their own height. By hopping in giant leaps, big kangaroos can move nearly as fast as race horses. Cheetahs use their sharp claws to grip and push against the ground as they race along. Olympic runners have spikes on their shoes for the same reason. Kangaroos use their tails to balance as they hop. They probably fall flat on their faces if they didn't. Peas are very strange, slow South American animals. They creep upside down through the tree tops and it can take them a day to move 100 meters.
